i'll believe it when i see it. have you taken over jj's role as Chicken Little?

As always, thanks for doing this wronoj. I'm gonna keep doing everything I can to stay on this list. Brings a sense of accomplishment to everything I've done here... or something

What Maritime and MBB have done the past 9-10 seasons is just amazing. No doubt one goes higher than 275 after this season. If I had to guess one, it would be MBB. With that 9-19 season being replaced with what will probably be another deep tourney run, I wouldn't be surprised if Norm's team was at the top of the list after this season.

Is it me, or are a significantly smaller number of D2 guys dropping this year? I waited on 4-5 guys, couldn't take it anymore and just grabbed best available D3 last night... and none of my D2 targets have dropped yet as of this morning.

Thanks to those who wished me well, but all told, I'm kicking myself over being eliminated early with that squad.

I thought it was about normal, bradshaw. I had about the same number of DII guards on my list, and all but one has now dropped. And the guy who didn't was one of those "do you believe in miracles, coach?" guys. I though the quality of post players was pretty mediocre even at the DII level.

I believe the big difference is that the size of the recruit pool seems smaller...so there are less guys who are dropping. But I think the proportion is roughly the same.

WCTST is in a serious decline :(We have an overall team rating under 500 for the first time in about 20 seasons. Poor recruiting = Coach's fault.
7/7/2009 4:47 AM
having teams start the season in the mid 500's was the norm, but with FSS, starting the season around 500 is normal. you're a tad low, but most of the top teams are in the 510 range.

PLUS you've got NINE undercl***men so no one is throwing you a pity party just yet!
7/7/2009 10:52 AM
I observed the same thing as mrpolo: after the graduation of the first (and excessively inflated) cl*** of potential players, this year's team ratings are much lower. Frankly, I like this change because there will be far fewer freak players with multiple 80+ (or even 90+) ratings.

Anyway, good luck to all this season!
7/7/2009 11:16 AM
yeah, i just poked through the upstate, and feel like my 508-rated team can at least compete there this season... wouldn't have been the case 2-3 seasons ago.

Maybe I have been spoiled. The last couple of seasons, my team has been in the 520s and 530s to start the season. I do have a lot of undercl***men!!
7/8/2009 5:05 AM
i think this is the first season of having zero pre-potential players. not positive though
7/8/2009 12:32 PM
That's right. Last year only the redshirted pre-potential players were around, and now they are all gone.
7/8/2009 12:57 PM
Ya took me a while to figure potential out but I think I finally did it I was on the verge of giving up. Kinda nice in a way more realistic no more 90ath 90 reb guys

Been pretty quiet here for a while... time to stir the postseason pot. I'd say the (lukewarm) favorite to win it all is George Fox.

Outside of that, it's really just a free-for-all of press/break teams:
Thomas
Lasell
Edgewood
Beloit
Maranatha
Finlandia

Other contenders who happen to run a non-gimmicky O/D combo:
Monmouth
McMurry
SUNY Maritime
Hamline
Oberlin
Marywood

Just my answer to a question nobody asked.
8/5/2009 12:09 PM
You can definitely take us off that list. We'll be lucky to make it out of the second round. Finlandia is playing some good ball right now. I had great seats for our two losses to them.
