I realize arguing the more talented team is pretty pointless since it's both subjective and extremely close. But his star SG is a rare post-potential perimeter sniper, with that 84 per... very few guys can match that. Your guys had speed and ath that were better (actually your starting SG had virtually the same speed as his), and ath can sometimes be a little overrated in guards, especially when his team was playing a triangle and zone, which don't really require a lot of ath or spd. His team couldn't function as an athletic press/motion or press/break team, but for what he runs, it's pretty damn good.

I know its subjective but my bakup sg who playes 22 min a game is way better then the guys that sg beat me. My starter is a wash really for 18 minutes a game. I know they are close teams but that guy shouldnt have scored more then 10. I am not trying to argue but I actually felt that would be an easy win with my Sg, Sf and Pf advantages. Good luck guys dont let an Upyoursstater win

I believe a new term of art has been coined by brian: "Upyoursstater."

UP-YOUR-STATE-ER (clap clap clap-clap-clap)

You forgot an "s." I believe it runs like this: UP-YOURS-STATE-ER.

While the hous is rocking and they are going scoreless in the 3rd quarter.

I can't believe it: first time in the Final Four! Beloit won a national title way, way back in the early days of HD, but this is this is the best season since then.
8/13/2009 11:06 PM
Beloit is an easy favorite to win the NC as far as I'm concerned. I've played everyone but GF and Beloit is by far the best team. GF's only loss is to Beloit and that was early on before xulapaul had his team figured out. Not many have come close since.

Good luck Paul, it would be nice to see that championship in the Midwest trophy case. And it was years 6 and 7 that Monmouth and Beloit won back to back NC's. Maybe we can do that again!

upstate's eliminated from the NT and still the focus of the forum. love it.. . .

why dont we just take you three and a couple of your conference mate's and throw you all in the same conference? we can even ask admin to rename the conference after you guys, the Press Break Mafia(i love how its not a fad, yet everyone runs it). maybe then we'd have some competition for best conference.

i cant wait for this conf challenge to get underway, should be some fireworks. nice to have some life back in wooden. actually, its always had life, but i think competition is best its been since the UAA/Heartland battle days...

oh, and i'll post the RIP list again. conferences that have 'attempted' to take us down over the past 30 seasons. Now they're barren (simai) wastelands of DIII wooden.

R.I.P.
UAA
Penn
Heartland
Empire 8 wont be adding miaa, NAC, or midwest to the list anytime soon, but i've got all the time in the world (my team sucks and am alway out of the post season).

Pick for the finals:

George Fox over Thomas

Geewiz, you're changing your pick from McMurry to Beloit?
8/14/2009 3:51 AM
I never picked McMurry, I said they were #1 ranked in my power ratings. My gut pick was GAC ever since the beginning of the season.

But if I have to pick a winner now it's Beloit. They are the only team I've played where it semed I had no chance to win once I got behind. Everyone else I either beat or was right there til the end.
8/14/2009 5:07 AM
Beloit is tough and george fox doesnt even belong
8/14/2009 5:29 AM
Don't forget Finlandia, guys. Goose may have the best press/break mafia of them all! He has quietly built that program into a winner.
8/14/2009 6:53 AM
I don't see the "George Fox does belong" argument. Are they getting questioned because Fox actually runs a different system than the other programs? The fact is, if ATH/SPD is the only deciding factor between two teams, would this game really be that fun? There is no reason an experienced team with, in George Fox's instance, good PER shooters can't win even if they are slightly slower and less athletic. Think of them like one of Butler's teams the past few years.
8/14/2009 11:49 AM
I hope ATH and SPD aren't the only deciding factor but it seems to play a big part as the FB/FCP mafia excell in those, as they should. Knox went to the finals a few seasons back and they seemed to do it with 60+ ball handling and p***ing but had terrible LP and PER. To stand out it seems you have to be very good in "something". I've been trying to beef up DE and BLK since I play a combo-zone and it's started to work to a degree.
