I really am - I didn't really like my chances in that game. I do have a lot of FR and SO on my team, so we should be able to reload for next season.

you didn't like your chances...wow....and to think the whole time I was saying I didn't have a shot in hell....well it feels good to finally have a team on the rise instead of one and out every year, and that's if I was lucky enough to make it. Have never been able to take the next step, doesn't help tho to have breum in my conference hogging all the conference championships.

yes wronoj, you definately didn't have your best game against me.

fhook, i expected a tough, close game, and was not really surprised to lose it, just would have preferred not to have laid m***ive bricks all over the court in doing so. I really thought the top 5 teams in our bracket looked relatively even (though Oberlin was so untested I had no idea if they could do it or not-- guess they could).

Before you drop me too far in the rankings with my first round exit, take note that I ran into a buzz saw with New England College. No way I should've had to play them in the 1st round.

It's computerized. You're goin down.
12/19/2007 12:57 AM
it is computerized... but most likely a first-round exit won't hurt anyone too badly-- unless it is replacing a really good run from 10 seasons ago, and even then it isn't going to kill you. PIT and no postseasons hurt a lot more.
I am changing the formula slightly this time, too, to give more credit to all 10 most recent seasons... The current formula wipes out first-round exits after 8 seasons, but I am going to make it so that you get at least one point for all 10 seasons for making the NT-- just to slightly strengthen the reward for consistency and longevity. PIT will increase, too, but (probably-- havent decided exactly yet) still will fall out sooner than NT.
Probably will not change much in the rankings at all, but will make my job easier and I think if it is a 10-year system, then all 10 seasons should be rewarded (currently you only get points for 10 seasons back if you make the Sweet 16 or further-- bad design by me in the first place, but I have been too lazy to change it until now).

wronoj - i know there is probably not much i can do to help compile info or whatever but if there is, let me know...
12/20/2007 4:34 AM
appreciate it jj, but i think it is under control-- not really that complicated after it is set up the first time.

The number on the far right is where the team would have been ranked on the previous scale-- E. Oregon and Worcester St. got beaten down for missing like 3 or 4 postseasons entirely at the beginning of the current 10-year period.
I cannot make the display work showing total points... but there are ties between Chicago-Arcadia (jj couldn't keep taz out of the top 3), Connecticut-Becker, Cabrini-Wisc Oshkosh, Pacific-College of NJ, SUNYM-Baldwin-Wallace, New England-Mount Ida, and CSU Eastbay-Sul Ross-John Carroll.
New to the list: Johns Hopkins, New England, Westminster, CSU Eastbay, Keuka, Ramapo, & Manhattanville.
Falling off the list were: Muhlenberg, Manchester, Maine Presque Isle, Gustavus Adolphus, Goucher, Greenville, Dubuque, Dickinson, & Colorado.
In danger for next season are: Becker, Medaille, La Roche, Macmurray, Alvernia, Wisconsin Oshkosh, College of NJ, Wesleyan, Baldwin-Wallace, SUNYM, Albion, New England, John Carroll, Sul Ross St, Keuka, & Ramapo.
Possible additions for next season: Carthage, Hood, Juniata, Kalamazoo, Maine Presque Isle, Manchester, Maranatha Baptist, Marywood, Plattsburgh St, Rivier, St Lawrence, St Norbert, & Texas Lutheran.

and, i messed up and NC Wesleyan should be in 17th place, and everyone else drops one spot. just cannot be bothered to do the excel thing again... sorry killbatman.
12/20/2007 11:13 AM
this has become my highlight of the end of the season...especially considering my recent boring exits from the NT where i have to sit for 3-5 days waiting for something to do!!

thanks again wronoj for doing this...
12/20/2007 11:39 AM
ouch... wasn't expecting to drop after making the sweet 16... is somebody a little bitter that i beat their team? :) I'm just messing with ya wronoj.

hey, i had to figure out some way to move up on my list... I sure cannot do it in the postseason ;)obviously, your position was crushed by the change-- now that I look more closely, Worcester St has made 6 of the last 10 postseasons, with only one huge run. I feel like 16th is about right. If it makes you feel any better, the top 9 teams have only missed 3 postseasons between them, none more than 1. And the next 2 seasons you will likely remove 2 misses, so that will help too.

looks like i need to get my *** in gear. PIT again
