With so many other factors affecting performance, I'm not sure it's even possible to reach that conclusion. In theory, though, the answer would be yes.

I believe pitcher settings do not change no matter when you move a pitcher from one level to another. Whether it's returning them after ST, promoting them, or demoting them, I believe they stay the same.

Neither. The only time you should put minor leaguers on the 40 is if you are promoting them to the ML.

Good Q. How do you split squads?

Also, This thread is probably very useful, but probably also full of 90% junk. Perhaps someone with a season or two under their belt could condense the material and then edit the first page? Like on the newbie thread in General Discussion.

Not if you don't intend to play them. I had about 48 on my first team. About 10 games in, 5-6 hadn't played. I'm carrying 50+ with my 2nd/3rd but it's mostly pitchers.

As a side note, it can't hurt to carry 70. Just makes it harder to figure out your line-up.
