Offseason

Begin play in the offseason as the GM where it's your goal to build a big league baseball dynasty. Choose a city, ballpark, and name for your franchise. Set payroll, scouting, coaching, training, and medical budgets. Hire coaches. Negotiate long-term contracts and avoid arbitration. Sign free-agents. Demote. Promote. Release. Set the 40-man roster. Invite players to spring training, then monitor your top prospects and proven stars in 18 spring training games. It's all under your control as you prepare your big league club and its minor league system for the regular season in Hardball Dynasty.

Player Development

As the GM and Manager, you have the challenge of building your franchise for the future, while trying to capture the championship today. You’ll see over 100 players develop over the course of a full minor league season that spans from rookie ball to AAA. Think your hot prospect is ready for the show? Call him up. But make sure he’s ready or his career could take a turn for the worse. If that’s not enough, you and your scouts will get to prepare for the amateur draft, sign prospects and search for the next big international superstar.

The Big Leagues

As skipper, you’ll have control of a wide variety of settings to guide your team thru a 162-game regular season. Pitching rotations and pitch counts, lineups, pinch-hitting and defensive hierarchies, hit-and-run, intentional walk and bunt tendencies, as well as when to rest players and how argumentative you would like to be. If it sounds like a lot, that’s because it is. Don't worry - we’re here to help you along the way with recommendations for every option and help for each page. But it will be your decisions that could bring home the title in this online baseball game!

Check out what some of our passionate franchise owners are saying about Hardball Dynasty!

I've played plenty of traditional fantasy sports games over the years but have never found one as addictive and fun as HBD. The more you play, the more enjoyable it is and you really develop a loyalty and connection with your players and other owners in the league. It's a great deal of fun.

As part of owning your own team, you also have the opportunity to join a community and make new friends. You are able to draft players you think will flourish in your system, sign high dollar free agents or drop those under performing high dollar free agent primadonnas. Join hbd for a great expierence.

The depth of the hardball dynasty experience, and the challenge of building a successful organization, simply cannot be matched. i would recommend it to any serious baseball fan. you will enjoy competing against 31 other dedicated owners, and, if you are anything like me, learn a bit more about baseball while you're at it.

I tell all my friends to just try one season and you'll be hooked. And it never fails.

The absolute best baseball simulation available. It is the closest thing you can get to being a real gm without actually entering a ballpark.

Your Franchise

Once you’ve gone through the franchise selection process, you will inherit your franchise. Each franchise is composed of 6 levels starting at the big league level and ending at the rookie league level. Each franchise will be assembled differently depending on the season of the world. Some teams will be built better for the upcoming season; others will be built better for the long haul. In any case, it’s your unique franchise that was assembled initially from a world and player creation process and then potentially adjusted from subsequent users. It’s your task as GM to improve the club for the current and future seasons.

For more franchise information, please see the Player's Guide.

Roster Management

As general manager of an organization, it will be your responsibility to adjust your player roster and coaching staff within a flexible financial budget. There are numerous departments within the overall franchise budget and when they are maxed out, you will be unable to perform future actions until the season has concluded. Therefore, it’s always in your best interest to think ahead and save some money for unforeseen occurrences (injuries, international free-agent signing, etc.). It’s your budget, so distribute and use it wisely.

For more GM information, please see the Player's Guide.

Season Play

Once the season starts, it’s your duty to handle the big league squad. If you’d like to take on more responsibility, the option is available to manage individual minor league levels. In any case, as manager you’re responsible for setting lineups, pitching staffs, managerial and player settings as well as a few managerial hierarchies. It’ll be your job to monitor player fatigue and react to injuries. While there are recommendations available on all manager pages, it’s your personal touches that can make the difference.

For more season information, please see the Player's Guide.

Playoffs

At the conclusion of the regular season, each playing level will have the same style of playoffs. There will be four division winners in each league as well as two wild card winners. The two best teams from each league will receive a first-round bye. The first series is a best-of-5, followed by a best-of-5, followed by a best-of-7, culminating in a best-of-7 World Series.

For more playoff information, please see the Player's Guide.

Retaining Your Franchise

You can sign-up for the next season at any point during your season. There is an additional grace period after the final game of the World Series. After that, your franchise will be available to the public. So, don’t risk losing your franchise by waiting until the last minute.
